I'm hooked on these Fan Fiction Mystery/Sci-Fi books. It takes the show Criminal Minds about the FBI BAU and shifts the stories a bit. The characters are all new, some of the FBI folk have anomalous "superpowers" and some don't. Almost all the criminals do as the team stalks "The Anomaly." It is an ensemble cast of characters, a little confusing at first. Their characters and relationships are well developed. Since these are self published e-books written by a team of several well known and not so well known Sci-Fi writers, most notable Elizabeth Bear, Emma Bull and Will Shetterly. The team is diverse with regard to race, gender and sexual orientation, although don't expect any explicit sexual activity, or any such relationships within the team. So far there are 12 or 13 books in the series and I'm on number 10, regretting coming to the end.Product details

I remain fascinated by the construct of the series. Character development and character interactions are skillfully interwoven with the plot(s).
This series just gets better and better. By now we know the characters well. Feels like we are a part of the team.
With the heavy PC turn I just dumped the whole set of them and said enough. The author should have just stuck with telling good detective stories.
Tightly written by an expert crew of professional authors, this series doesn't just offer a filler for people longing for more Criminal Minds or X Files--it offers a better series.
Didn't we already read this story but with Chas as the protagonist? Disappointed that the authors couldn't come up with a story line that was a new.
Not going to say much about this as I read SU 1-12 as quickly as I possible could because I couldn't put them down and they were all there and oh my goodness I couldn't stop myself. This review will be put into each of the books mentioned. Will obviously pre-order the next one as soon as I notice it being available to do so.
I have now read up to "Episode" 12 - and the quality of writing remains intense, breath-taking, and deeply personal. There are some passages - the technical brilliance of which simply takes my breath away.
First, there's the intense, super-real scenes unfolding in Super High Def in your mind's eye... Then there's the wringer your emotions get put through - which you only notice AFTERwards... and, finally, there's the going back to see how on God's beautiful Earth did the writer manage to WRITE such an experience!
These authors turn the simple acts of sitting down, walking into a room, or offering someone a cup of coffee, into mesmerizing moments of tension-building or character development. By the time the "real" action happen, all the carefully (and invisibly) laid emotional depth-charges go off with the military precision of a complex demolition job.
Phew - I LOVE IT!
